Friday Evening Book Group...

What Book: The Shack by William P. Young
When: 7:00-8:30 p.m.

****This book Group is on break until January 2010****

Our Friday Night Group plans to read and discuss this thought-provoking work of fiction in the month of October.  If you are interested in joining us, please contact the Church Office for additional information at 614-837-2343 for location.  Our group is open to all members and friends of Faith UMC.

"Mackenzie Allen Philips' youngest daughter, Missy, has been abducted during a family vacation and evidence that she may have been brutally murdered is found in an abandoned shack deep in the Oregon wilderness. Four years later in the midst of his Great Sadness, Mack receives a suspicious note, apparently from God, inviting him back to that shack for a weekend. Against his better judgment he arrives at the shack on a wintry afternoon and walks back into his darkest nightmare. What he finds there will change Mack's world forever. In a world where religion seems to grow increasingly irrelevant "The Shack" wrestles with the timeless question, "Where is God in a world so filled with unspeakable pain?" The answers Mack gets will astound you and perhaps transform you as much as it did him. You'll want everyone you know to read this book!"

We are Youth of Faith...

The 7th through 12th graders who meet together to eat, play games and learn about our faith. We come together as a group to be more involved in church, get others more involved and to share and grow in our faith with our peers. We meet on the 1st and 2nd Sunday of each month from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm. Meals are provided, games are played and lessons are learned. We also have one planned outing a month, which include concerts, wall climbing, movies, community service and going out together as a group that follows Christ.

Vacation Bible School...

Vacation Bible School is a perfect opportunity to reach out to children and their families in our Village and offer them the grace to grow as disciples of Jesus Christ. The Hope/Faith Vacation Bible School is still in need of additional adult staff. All sorts of jobs are available. You do not have to teach a class or do a skit to volunteer. If you cannot be present all five nights we still need you the rest of the time. Several persons are needed to guide a group of five children to different stations in the rotation model.

Please contact Shauna Arnold at (614) 837-7367 to volunteer.

Sunday School ...

Faith Choir 2009-2010

Make a joyful noise to God, all the earth! What an exciting time in the life of the music ministry at Faith! The choir that provides leadership on Sunday mornings has reached an all-time high; there are now twenty-six people lifting their voices in praise to God. The Wednesday evening rehearsals are a time of fellowship, sharing, rehearsing, communing with God through music, and sometimes just plain having fun. This group has grown strong together, and continues to accept the challenges placed before them. Musically, they have achieved a level that many of them didn’t even realize was possible. Spiritually, we feed one another, support one another, and share our joys and pain. This is truly a close-knit group that welcomes anyone who is interested in discovering their musical ability through the praise and worship of God.

Some of our Annual Activities:

Welcome to our “Family of Faith” at Faith UMC.  We are small but mighty in the work of the Lord and the fellowship of each other.   Join us in feeding our souls and bodies with the many activities we do in a year.

Our annual June homemade Chicken bar-be-cue has been in action for 50+ years now and it gives our whole congregation a chance to work together and meet all our neighbors.

A new tradition of our Labor Day “Grilled German Bologna” sale complete with a Bologna Queen began about 7 years ago.  We have a small army of “water walkers” who pull their trusty wagons up and down the Canal Winchester parade route, passing out free water to all those who thirst!

The Christmas season brings opportunities for mission in our “Family adoptions” and the “Bethlehem Breakfast”.  We are an active participant in the Canal Winchester Christmas in the Village with our Church providing a warm spot to sit, drink hot chocolate, hear amazing music and have the kids do a great craft.

Combine all of the above with many other programs such as martial arts, exercise class, a “Caring Hearts” arts and crafts group, kids leggo building, mission projects including baking hundreds of dozens of cookies for our prison ministry and we are busy.

But never too busy to welcome one and all to join us, bring us new ideas for service and just be the best Body of Christ we can be!
